Endless Escape Together is neither a shipping company nor a freight forwarder: we share our experience as travellers to help you prepare.
Why ship your vehicle?
In Africa, some borders are closed or advised against. To keep going, you sometimes need to put your van, campervan or 4x4 on a ship, from one port to another.
RoRo: the vehicle drives on board
On a roll-on/roll-off ship, the vehicle drives up a ramp, like into a car park. It is often the cheapest option, port to port. But the vehicle must travel empty, and the keys are handed over at the port.
Containers: 20 ft, 40 ft High Cube or Open Top
Indicative dimensions, to be confirmed with the carrier.
Our tips before asking for a quote
Measure your vehicle's total height, including roof tent, bars and rack: it decides which container is possible. Ask for 2 or 3 quotes giving the vehicle, its dimensions, departure and arrival ports and preferred date. Get your carnet stamped before loading and keep a copy of every document.
